Waterproof Cell Phone with Fingerprint Sensor Security by Fujitsu


AuthenTec, a provider of fingerprint sensors and solutions has announced the world's first fingerprint-enabled waterproof cell phone. The cell phone uses AuthenTec's TouchStone packaging and incorporates its TrueNav technology for touchpad-like navigational control via AuthenTec's AES1711 fingerprint sensor and The waterproof cell phone meets IPX5 and IPX7 specifications which can remain submerged under up to nearly 3.3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.

The sensor also has AuthenTec's TrueFinger anti-spoofing for security and TrueMatch pattern matching for reliable, quick and easy scans of users' fingerprints.

The F-01A is a Symbian-based phone with a 3.5-inch VGA touch-screen. There's a 5.2-megapixel camera, built-in GPS, mobile payment capabilities, and a built-in TV tuner.

It's going to be available from NTT DoCoMo in Japan, though no prices are available yet.
